Ways to use game tier lists

Tier lists can be competitive rankings, personal library notes, or planning tools. Each template type below is meant to be copied, edited, and published only when it reflects a real user choice.

Featured Tier List Templates

Start from curated ranking formats that already include real CheckpointDB game entries. Copy a template, adjust tiers, add missing games, then publish when the ranking is ready for public viewing.

Genre Tier Lists

Rank games inside genres such as RPG, horror, strategy, racing, platformer, survival, fighting, roguelike, and cozy games. Genre lists work well when you want to compare games by mood, mechanics, or player expectations.

Franchise Tier Lists

Build lists around long-running franchises and series. Use them to compare mainline entries, spin-offs, remakes, expansions, and personal favorites across release eras.

Platform Tier Lists

Sort games by where they are best played, including Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Steam Deck, VR, mobile, and legacy platforms. Platform templates help users plan libraries around hardware they actually own.

Backlog And Planning Tier Lists

Use tiers for planning instead of judgment: play now, save for later, waiting for sale, replay someday, finished, paused, or dropped. These lists help turn a backlog into a decision board.

Community Tier Lists

Public templates and published rankings can be copied by signed-in users. When no public community lists are available, CheckpointDB shows official starters and a clear empty state instead of pretending community content exists.
