Outrun - Cannonball

About this entry

Cannonball is a fan-made, open-source engine rewrite for the classic 1986 Sega arcade game OutRun. Developed by Chris White (djyt), it is not an emulator but a complete recreation of the game engine in C++. It allows players to experience the original arcade game on modern systems with massive enhancements, including true widescreen support, 60 frames per second gameplay, and support for modern force-feedback controllers. It requires original arcade ROM files to function.

Outrun - Cannonball is listed as a Decompilations & Recompilations entry in CheckpointDB's preservation database.

It is grouped under Racing, making it easier to compare with related preservation projects and enhanced classics.

This record is treated as its own version or project, separate from normal game database entries.
