Doom RPG

About this entry

Doom RPG is a unique mobile game released in 2005, originally developed by Fountainhead Entertainment. It combines the first-person view of the classic shooter with turn-based RPG mechanics. For years, it was difficult to play due to being locked to obsolete platforms like BREW and J2ME. However, in June 2022, a fan developer named Erick194 released a reverse-engineered native PC port using SDL2. This port allows the game to be played on modern systems, provided the user supplies the original asset files (doomrpg.mod from the BREW version). This project is a major milestone in mobile game preservation.

Doom RPG is listed as a Console To PC Ports entry in CheckpointDB's preservation database.

It is grouped under RPG, making it easier to compare with related preservation projects and enhanced classics.

This record is treated as its own version or project, separate from normal game database entries.
