Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Ultimate (often referring to the 'Ultimate Patch' for the Sega Saturn version) is a community-driven preservation project designed to fix the issues of the original 1998 Sega Saturn port. Originally released only in Japan and suffering from technical limitations, the 'Ultimate' patch translates the entire game into English, adds support for the 4MB RAM expansion to reduce loading times, restores missing transparency effects, and fixes numerous bugs. It also preserves the Saturn-exclusive content, including the ability to play as Maria Renard, Richter’s alternate sprite, and two exclusive castle areas. This patch is widely considered the definitive way to experience the Saturn version of the game.
